Meet The Sourdough Mama

Hello! I’m Katrina

Katrina Niesen, known as The Sourdough Mama, is a full-time sourdough artist, educator, and content creator. Formerly an instructional designer, she left her career to pursue her passion for sourdough and transformed a creative outlet into a thriving business. Today, she teaches workshops, develops digital resources, and shares her intricate bread artistry with a global audience.

Her work has been featured on Good Morning America, highlighting how she uses sourdough to foster creativity and connection, particularly for new mothers. She shares her story of how she found healing during postpartum depression through sourdough art. Through her engaging workshopsβ€”both in-person and virtualβ€”Katrina empowers bakers of all levels to master fermentation and artistic scoring techniques.

With a deep appreciation for both the art and science of sourdough, Katrina is dedicated to making the craft accessible, inspiring, and rewarding.
